~ it should have been a wordless Wednesday~
Just in case you missed it, this is a brute of a flu season.
Almost everyone I know has had this beast. Mine has been hanging around since the Christmas holidays. It started as a cold and morphed into the bug from h***!
I spent the last 3 days in bed reading, knitting and going down the blog hole. I've been thinking positively, eating well, drinking lots of fluids and taking vitamins until they're running out of my ears.
Today we came down to the wire for our trip to Singapore and Hong Kong... it's a no go.
I feel sorry for the lucky stiffs folks who would have to sit next to me on the flights and I just don't have the energy to go.
My private pity party lasted all of 5 minutes.
It's funny, but as much as I was looking forward to going, I got over it very quickly. Could it be that my intention to roll with the punches and accept life as it comes, is really still working?
Must be...or I'm delirious, which is also a distinct possibility.
Today I commented on a lovely blog I enjoy, and called the woman the wrong name!
I think I'll go back to my knitting, and read my favourite blogs silently today.
I hope you are staying well.

Oh I am so sorry you have been ill and that you are missing your trip. I am horrible with names. As hard as I try I think I am sure I have switched names around. Feel better soon! Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie. I'm also terribe at names when I meet people. Just a sort of brain short circuit!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer ... poor baby, sounds positively miserable! And to have to miss your trip ... boo! But you're right, it just isn't fun to travel when you're not feeling well and would be far better to save it for when you actually have the energy to truly enjoy it. I had to laugh when you said you called someone by the wrong name!!! LOL I did the same thing a few weeks ago and so I know it's so embarrassing :) Thanks so much for stopping by for the first Wednesday post and leaving your sweet comment for me. Truly a pleasure to read. Feel better very soon, lovely!!! xo ~S

I adore your illustrations Sandy. They are so brilliant.
DeleteOh we all know how nasty this flu can be and so sorry to hear that you have been side lined with it...
ReplyDeletealthough knitting and bed do sound rather appealing!
Get well soon!
It's been cold down here so staying in bed has been a bit of a treat but I'm getting a bit fed up with this bug.
DeleteHave a great week!
I'm so sorry you will miss your trip, although I'm sure you would have been miserable on that long flight. I hope that you recover soon. The flu hasn't really hit California yet, but I'm dreading its arrival.
ReplyDeleteTake care and rest up.
I'm in Northen CA right now so it's heading down your way! Sorry. Start wearing a face mask and rubber gloves now!!
DeleteHello Jennifer:
ReplyDeleteWe really do sympathise. We too have finally shaken off the 'flu type bug which, as for you, lasted for far longer than we should care to remember. We do hope that your full recovery is imminent. And such a pity about the trip but there will, almost certainly, be other occasions. Take care!
Hello Jane and Lance!!
DeleteThere will be other occasions and adventures which I will enjoy much more when I'm back to full strength. I so enjoy your travels!! Such fun to share in your adventurous life.
Oh what an absolute bummer but on long trips there is nothing worse than starting out below par as it's so exhausting anyway. Will you go later in the year?
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope so but if not there, another adventure will come my way. Life is nothing if not a roller coaster these days.
DeleteHope you're January is going smoothly, spring may be right around the corner I hope.
Sorry to hear about the trip. I am inherently a fatalist at heart so believe must be for the best, but you surely need a respite from this bug! Sending you virtual chicken noodle soup with a side of something much stronger to kill those bugs but good! Hope you are able to reschedule!
ReplyDeleteI also believe it must be for the best, some hidden reason I've not found yet and all that sort of thing. Not to worry...I am taking that "side" of something else to drown the damn bug...or at the very least "pickle" it!
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear that you've been so ill, Jennifer! And you've been just so lovely lately, I would have never, ever guessed. I'm in awe of your ability to roll with the punches so well though...perhaps a post about that soon??
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you, but I've travelled so much in my lifetime, that I've become a real homebody who's almost relieved when a trip is cancelled...awful, isn't it??!! I'm definitely with the group that's voting to make yourself a hot toddy, snuggle up in bed, and watch Casablanca...again.
Lots of love and get well wishes,
DeeAnne
Thanks so much DeeAnne! I am a bit of a homebody myself, but this is getting a bit long to stay in. I've been working my way though all the Hitchcock movies. I love all his blondes. There have been a lot of hot toddy's involved in my recovery. Remarkable how healing they can feel!!
DeleteYou must be extremely ill, to have to cancelled a planed trip - sorry to hear this. Our news stations have been warning us of this dreadful flu that is coming Down Under this winter! And after reading how yourself, and many other bloggers, have succumb to this lurgy I am not looking forward to our winter germ season ahead.
ReplyDeleteGet a flu shot and wear a mask :-))
DeleteSounds as if we're in the same state -- but I didn't have to give up a trip to accommodate the bug. I'm so sorry to hear about your spoiled plans, and I admire your attitude of acceptance. Do take care!
ReplyDeleteAt least I'm getting a lot of knitting projects finished!!
DeleteAcceptance is such a valuable lesson. I know that something good is in store for you~
ReplyDeleteMay your health be restored to fullness very soon.

Hello MarySue,
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for you that you have been sick and that you have had to cancel your trip. But you know what, MaryAnn? Sometimes the best trip is the one we make in our mind.
I hope this helps, dear MaryBeth.
Stay warm, take good care of yourself and be back to your readers very quickly to tell them you are doing totally fine.
Friendly but cautious hugs from far away ;-)

Whew, I'm not the only one who gets names wrong. Stay healthy Anne!!
DeleteThanks for stopping by for the first Friday post, Jennifer ... and thanks for letting me know the types of awnings that are inspiring to you! Sure hope you're feeling better! Tell that flu bug it has to be totally out of here in January! xoxo ~S

You ARE very chillaxed if you can be that cool and collected (or delirious) about having to cancel a trip to the East. But then, knitting and reading oneself down the bloghole are enticing too.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better and ahead of the bug soon!
So sorry that you're sick, and particularly that you had to cancel the trip.
ReplyDeleteIs that your bedroom ? It is beautiful, I wouldn't mind being ill there ... I hope you're feeling better though !xx
ReplyDeleteIt is, although prior to being loaded up with stacks of reading material, bags of lozenges and a sick me!
